On 23 August 2024, Lucarana Diamond Corp, a Canadian company, made a groundbreaking discovery at their Karowe mine in Botswana. The company unearthed a diamond weighing an astonishing 2,492 carats, making it the largest diamond ever found in Botswana and the second largest in history since the Cullinan Diamond in 1905.

 

 

The president of Botswana, Mokgweetsi Masisi, proudly presented the fist-sized stone during a viewing ceremony held on Thursday.
