Grammy Award winner Jeffery Lamar Williams, known professionally as Young Thug, has been released from jail after accepting a plea deal on gang-related charges. Williams had been incarcerated for over 900 days following his arrest on charges related to gang activity, drugs, and firearms.
In court, Williams expressed remorse for his actions. “I take full responsibility for my crimes, for my charges,” he stated. “To really everybody that has got something to do with this situation, I want to say sorry.” During his five-minute speech, he described himself as “a good guy with a good heart” who became entangled in criminal activities due to his desire to be “nice or cool.”
Williams was sentenced on Thursday to time served and 15 years of probation. Jail records indicate that he was released later that night.
