In the continued story of Africa taking over the US.
Nomzamo Mbatha is regarded as the latest South African import that is taking up space in the United States of America. We are counting two years now since the former “Isibaya” actress has been an US-South African resident and she is showcasing that moving to US has been the best decision she ever made.
The star recently shared on her social media pages and revealed that she has been named “Hollywood’s Next Big Thing” by leading publication The Hollywood reporter. The credit is a monumental one looking at the movies that the star has been making of late. Moreover, it also shows the hard work and tunnel vision will do for anyone. Her first post was to celebrate the feat by showing the receipts that she is the girl she thinks she is.
However, Mbatha gave a behind-the-scenes look of the photoshoot she did in Los Angeles, California when she returned to her soial media page. In true Nomzamo Mbatha style, the actress first gave us looks, went on to showcase how she enamoured the entire team around her, and lastly shared a touching teary eyed celebration on having been identified, again, by an international leading publication.
The star received honour after previously being acknowledged by popular people-of-colour (POC) publication, Essence. Mbatha was part of the list of the publication’s Essence’s 20 Young Black Hollywood Stars To Watch. In the publication they had written the following on the star:
“Nomzamo Mbatha knows no bounds or limitations. While filming Isibaya, she spent time touring Kenyan refugee camps in her role as an UNHCR Ambassador. It is that level of care and commitment that has made her a sought after star in projects like “Tell Me Sweet Something” and “The Jakes Are Missing.” In 2015, she became the first South African to represent Neutrogena and signed a talent management deal with CAA (Creative Artists Agency). Up next, Mbatha will be starring with Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall in “Coming 2 America” in a role that’s described as being “kept under lock and key.”
Speaking on “Coming 2 America,” the film is almost getting available internationally. The film is getting ready for its official debut on Amazon Video and at local cinemas on Friday, 5 March 2021. The film might be a much anticipated spectacle for Americans due to the cultural context. However, Mbatha is all the South Africans will be looking forward to.
