A convicted murderer, rapist, and fraudster, Thabo Bester has once again found himself in the spotlight as he returns to court, this time representing himself.
Bester, who has a notorious criminal history, filed an application at the Pretoria High Court in South Africa, claiming that his belongings were unfairly confiscated when he was re-arrested in Tanzania.
Bester’s application demands access to a laptop, which he asserts is essential for preparing his defense for his upcoming prison break trial, scheduled for February 10th next year. He argues that the confiscation of his belongings has hindered his ability to adequately prepare for the trial.
Bester’s criminal record is extensive. He has been convicted of fraud, money laundering, tampering with a corpse, and escaping from prison, where he was also serving a sentence for rape. His latest legal maneuver adds another chapter to his already infamous story.
The Pretoria High Court will now have to consider Bester’s application and determine whether his request for access to a laptop will be granted, as he prepares to face trial once again.
