ANC integrity commission tells Ace Magashule to Step Aside.
ANC’s integrity commission suggested that secretary-general Ace Magashule should step aside with immediately.
George Mashamba chaured the commission and he recommended to the ANC that the intentions of its conference must be applied “without fear or favour”.
A report dated December 14 seen by Hatirare 263, Mashamba said the commission supports that Magashule should step aside until his corruption case has been settled. Magashule indicated during the meeting that he would accept any sanctions on him.
“In his interaction with the IC, the secretary-general indicated he will never resist the decision of the NEC, even if he might not agree with it,” Mashamba wrote.
“However, in the unlikely event of resistance to this, the NEC should consider suspension pending the finalisation of the criminal case against him in terms of rule 25.70 of the ANC constitution”.
The commission’s suggestions come just days after meeting with Magashule in what has been explained as an “open” engagement.
Magashule faced 21 counts of corruption and is out on R200,000 bail. 10 November 2020, the Hawks provided a warrant of arrest for ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule. Seven others were arrested in October in relation to the same multimillion-rand asbestos removal tender Magashule is being investigated for.
