Gqom sensation Nkosingiphile Olpha Selepe’s death, known as Gee Six Five, is still a hard pill to swallow for many, who woke up to this sad news of her death in the morning.The #RIPGeeSixFive has shaken the Twitter trends list and news of her passing has sent shockwaves across social media platforms and with condolences messages being sent from everyone.

After releasing her smash hit Obani Lababantu, which is currently at the top list of hit selling song in the country. Many people have been streaming the song on Twitter ever since its release. Gee Six Five recently held a show performing the song live on SABC 1’s show Mzansi Insider.

Sbu Mpungose confirmed the news of her aunt’s death, who’s also a magazine editor, “My beloved aunt, MumNcane who many of you know as #GeeSixFive is no more.

She displayed leadership throughout her life, was the epitome of fearlessness & inspired many with her single #ObaniLababantu. Mthiya, Shandu kaNdaba, Sontshikazi,” she wrote.The family members revealed that her death was as a result of Covid 19, she had tested positive of on Monday.

She had been in isolation at home and sadly she passed on in the morning.”Mrs. Selepe passed away today in Durban where she had been self-isolating under the watch of her family after receiving a positive diagnosis for Covid-19 on Monday,” reads the statement. Boity Thulo and other celebrities have responded to the news of her passing.
