A 39-year-old man from Shazhabukwa Village in Matobo District has been arrested and charged with rape after allegedly assaulting his 16-year-old daughter as a form of punishment for having a boyfriend.
According to reports, the incident occurred in June last year when the accused, Kwanisani Ncube, was left alone with his daughter at their home after his wife traveled to Plumtree. The accused allegedly stormed into his daughter’s bedroom and raped her, accusing her of having a boyfriend.
The victim reported the incident to the authorities, leading to the arrest of the accused. Matabeleland South police spokesperson Inspector Loveness Mangena confirmed the incident and commended the victim for her bravery in reporting the crime.
The accused has been charged with rape and is expected to appear in court soon. The incident has sparked outrage in the community, with many calling for harsh punishment for the accused if found guilty.
