Two die in Nigeria Christmas goodies stampede
Two people have been confirmed dead by the Police in Nigeria’s Rivers state as they were at an event where a non-profit organisation was giving out Christmas goodies.
It is said that many deaths are being anticipated since many have been admitted to hospital.
On Tuesday at Rumuodara area near the southern city of Port Harcourt the stampede broke out.
Eyewitnesses said people in attendance were rushing to get to the donor’s offices when the stampede took place.
Nnamdi Omoni, State Police’s spokesperson quoted as saying that “investigations had started with a view of bringing persons found culpable to justice.”
