South Africa has become one of the reckoning forces in the entertainment industry not only in Africa but the world at large. Mzansi has been braced with talent and educated actors.

Here are some of Mzansi’s talented star entertainers who have managed to thrust in the limelight of acting despite holding various distinguished degrees.

Larona Moagi:

The fast-rising star actress obtained her BA Degree in Law at The University of Witwatersrand in 2019. Larona Moagi is best known for her on-screen character Tumi on 1 Magic soapie opera The River.
Ntobeko Sishi:

Ntobeko Sishi is a  fast-rising South African sensation. The Gomora firebrand has managed to keep Mzansi entertained. Ntobeko stars as Ntokozo Dlamini on Mzansi Magic’s hit soapie Gomora. He has a Bachelor of Commerce in Economics and finance at UCT and a postgraduate diploma in management, entrepreneurship with University of Cape Town (UCT).

Tiisetso Thoka:

 

Graduated with a BCom Law Degree at the University of South Africa in 2011, Tiisetso Thoka once worked as a Legal Practitioner at one of the esteemed Law firms in Roodepoort. He called it quits after a year and eight months so as to pursue his acting career.

He currently plays the role of Mickey Sibaya on Mzansi Magic hit soapie Isibaya.

 

Kgomotso Christopher:

Kgomotso studied for her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Law and Politics at the University of Cape Town. Best remembered for her role as Yvonne Langa on Scandal. The former Scandal and Isidingo firebrand currently plays Dineo Prince in M-Net’s telenovela Legacy

Nomzamo Mbatha:

Of late Nomzamo Mbatha has become one of the celebrated households names in the entertainment industry.She graduated from the University of Cape Town with a BA of Commerce majoring in Accounting. She’s best known for her Isibaya character, as Thandeka.

Nkosinathi ‘Nay Maps’ Maphalala: He has a degree in Information Technology and Software Programming with the University of Pretoria. However, Nkosinathi ‘Nay Maps’ Maphalala is better known as ‘Mxolisi’ from SABC 1’s hit soapie Uzalo. Despite a shocking exit from Uzalo in 2019, he bagged a leading role on The Queen, as ‘Dingaan’.

Thulisile Phongolo:Thulisile Phongolo graduated in Strategic Marketing with the University of Johannesburg( UJ). Phongolo is best known for her on-screen character ‘Namhla’ which is the character on Generations: The Legacy.

Clement Maosa:Studied law as per fulfillment of his parents, at the University of Limpopo. The celebrated star actor had his passion for acting whilst he was young. Even during his high school years, he featured in a number of screenplays. During his final year at University, he went for auditions and had his luck.

Clement Maosa plays the role of Kwaito Seakamela on the SABC 1 educational drama series Skeem Saam.

Nandi Mbatha:She is yet to graduate as a law graduate, Nandi Mbatha is currently studying Law at The University of South Africa (UNISA) Before she pursued law, she was studying Political Sciences which she called quits. Nandi is best known for her starring role as Simlindile ‘Simi’ Ngema, in the Mzansi Magic telenovela Isithembiso.

Rosemary Zimu:Zimu holds a Labour Law Certificate. Rosemary Zimu is best known for her recurring on-screen character ‘Warona’on The Queen.

Nyalleng Thibedi:Despite pursuing acting South African celebrated star actress, Nyalleng Thibedi holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree with the University of Cape Town. Nevertheless, the 40-year-old star actress is best known for her Uzalo on-screen character.

Thando Thabethe:Has a BCom Accounting Degree, which she obtained in 2011 from the University of Johannesburg. The charming actress also stars in Mzansi Magic’s series Housekeepers playing ‘Linda Ndlovu’.

Innocentia Makapila:She is a Bachelor of Arts in Language Practice Degree holder. She furthered her studies by adding on an Honours Degree in Linguistics with the University of Johannesburg. However, she is better known as ‘Rendani Mukwevho’ on SABC 2’s long-serving soapie Muvhango.

Candice Modiselle:Candice Modiselle graduated with an Honours in Dramatic Arts from the Witwatersrand University. The star actress wowed Mzansi with her breathtaking performances as Lerato whilst she was still on Generations; The legacy.
